Architecture + Design
Volvo is a global luxury brand known for its sleek style and strong identity. Thrasher was hired to convert a former Jaguar Land Rover dealership into a new Volvo showroom in Charleston, West Virginia.
Using Volvo’s prototype design, Thrasher served as Architect-of-Record. The team developed design and construction documents from the provided schematics. These went through three rounds of brand review before approval. Throughout the process, Thrasher balanced brand standards with local codes, materials, and labor availability.
The 8,000-square-foot renovation was complex. The front half of the building was demolished due to code issues and replaced with a non-combustible addition. Thrasher oversaw construction of the showroom, living room, service drive, sales offices, restrooms, breakroom, and parking. Each space was designed with the customer in mind—featuring a cool, modern exterior and a warm, welcoming interior.
