A History of Successful Projects, Repeat Clientele

In 1983, a young engineer with an entrepreneurial spirit and his father, a seasoned engineer with more than 40 years of experience, joined forces to start a civil engineering firm focused on public utility infrastructure in North Central West Virginia. With a commitment to building business through “successful projects and repeat clientele,” H. Wood “Woody” Thrasher, P.E., and the late Henry A. Thrasher, P.E., formed Thrasher in Clarksburg, West Virginia.

Since that time, Thrasher has grown and remains committed to being West Virginia’s largest privately-owned, multi-disciplinary firm and a leading firm across the Mid-Atlantic region.

Adapting to a Changing Marketplace

Publicly funded water and wastewater projects were the backbone of the company and continue to be a large part of its engineering division. Survey and construction monitoring and inspection services departments were added in the early years of the company to support those projects.

While keeping an eye on the changing marketplace, Woody Thrasher expanded the company’s areas of engineering to include site development for both public and private clientele and provided design services for transportation that includes roadways, bridges and airports.

Continued Growth, Commitment to Service

Based upon Thrasher’s successful site development planning and engineering design services for building projects, architectural design was added as a service offering in 2004. Master planning and landscape architecture were later added and began the land development division. More recently, Thrasher has contributed to the various energy sectors including electricity, fiber, and oil and gas.

The geographic service area has grown as well – expanding beyond West Virginia’s borders to include the entire Mid-Atlantic region.

We are always ready for what’s next. While we’re proud of how far we have come – we’ve only just begun.
