Enhancing Recreation, Enriching Community
Marilla Park has long been a cornerstone of recreation in Morgantown. Now, recent planning efforts are helping ensure it continues to serve the community for generations to come. To guide this vision, The Thrasher Group partnered with the Morgantown Board of Parks and Recreation Commission to develop a master plan outlining phased improvements throughout the park.
In the first phase, a new pool complex was introduced. It features water slides, a lazy river, a splash pad, a zero-entry pool, and modern support and administrative facilities. Importantly, to minimize disruption, the new complex was built in a separate area of the park—allowing the existing pool to remain open during construction.
Looking ahead, future phases of the master plan will focus on revitalizing Lower Marilla Park. Planned upgrades include new tennis and pickleball courts, a concrete skate park, and an asphalt pump track. Additionally, improvements to parking and pedestrian access, along with flexible green spaces designed for various community uses, will further enhance the park’s appeal.
Your Partner from Planning Through Construction
The Marilla Center has long served as both a community hub and administrative space. Now, it’s slated for renovation to create additional flexible areas for BOPARC’s programs, events, and summer camps. As improvements progress, new construction phases will begin in alignment with the park system’s seasonal schedule.
From the earliest stages, Thrasher has supported the project—facilitating community engagement and design workshops, assisting with funding strategies, and delivering full architectural and engineering design for the first phase. Today, the team continues to provide construction administration and inspection services as the broader vision for Marilla Park comes to life.
Let’s discuss your project.
