The Thrasher Group Expands Transportation Workforce
The Thrasher Group has added to their Transportation Division in preparation for the work that will come with the passage of the SB1006 transportation spending bill. Thrasher, which has a long history of transportation work such as Corridor H and the King Coal Highway, sees a unique opportunity to grow their department and hire within the state.
“We have seen a steady increase in projects and are adjusting staffing accordingly,” said Thrasher CEO Chad Riley. “Governor Justice and Secretary Smith have asked our industry to rise to the occasion, and that is what Thrasher is doing. With over 50 experienced highway professionals and many more with the skills required for these projects, Thrasher is ready to help West Virginia get on the road to prosperity.”
In early spring, Thrasher hired Jason Boyd, PE, MBA as Transportation Department Manager to oversee its transportation group. Since that time, the group has also brought onboard Roadway Engineer Jason Mayes and Bridge Engineer Michael Tyler, PE. Both will work out of Thrasher’s Charleston office. Additionally, Danielle Endicott and Steve Coombs have joined Thrasher as project managers.
Jason Mayes brings with him over 20 years of experience in the transportation sector. He has worked all over the state of West Virginia, specifically focused on West Virginia Division of Highways projects. Mayes is practiced in design, grading, and construction plan preparation and is well versed in the QAM process.
Michael Tyler has built an impressive resume since graduating college in 2012. In a short period, Michael has developed a stellar portfolio filled with bridge work experience. He has worked on bridge projects of varying sizes all throughout the area and knows the individual complexities that go along with both large and small-scale bridge projects. His work has taken him throughout West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina. He is registered Professional Engineer (PE) in West Virginia and North Carolina.
With more than 20 years in the field, Danielle Endicott brings a wealth of survey and transportation knowledge. Danielle formerly worked at WV Division of Highways as a transportation specialist, and before that spent years working throughout the Mid-Atlantic region as survey manager.
Steve Coombs brings over 27 years of extensive industry knowledge in the quality assurance and testing of soils, concrete, aggregate, and asphalt. Steve is well trained in WVDOH regulations and holds many certifications with the WVDOH. He has worked for the WVDOH serving as a lab manager, inspector, and tester within the Materials Control, Soils, and Testing Division.
