Innovative Engineering Solutions
The Town of Luray, Virginia, needed to replace its aging West Main Street bridge. The existing structure could no longer support the growing demands of the downtown area. To address this, the Town selected The Thrasher Group to lead the Design-Build of the new Town of Luray West Main Street Bridge. This approach provided a single, trusted engineering partner to manage the project from start to finish.
From the beginning, the project required a multi-disciplinary effort. Thrasher brought together experts from its Transportation, Environmental, Utilities, and Survey Divisions. These teams collaborated across multiple office locations. In addition, partners like Orders Construction, NGE, WRA, and AMT joined the effort.
One of the most innovative aspects of the project involved utility integration. Specifically, Thrasher’s Utilities Engineering team replaced and upgraded the Town’s sewer system. They designed aerial sewer lines that run across the bridge.
Despite the site’s challenges, the team delivered a solution that balanced function, safety, and innovation. The final design of the West Main Street Bridge reflects Thrasher’s commitment to solving complex infrastructure problems with creativity and care.
