Preservation of traditions, while embracing the future industry
Changing technology impacts every facet of today’s world. When the owner of a regional bank approached the architect about designing a new branch, it was clear that a unique opportunity was ahead. The owner wanted to preserve the traditions of banking that customers are used to while embracing the future of the changing industry.
These goals were achieved through strategic massing, a modern exterior palette, and a refined yet welcoming interior. The tall glass tower and glass front façade with color-changing LED lighting was designed to serve as a beacon in the community. As daylight fades, the building takes on a glow that visually captures attention – a modern lighthouse to draw patrons in.
In the Details
Wood cladding on the interior wall of the tower and matching wood casework are combined with white quartz countertops and metal accents to create a harmonious interior that is both modern and inviting. The mixture of materials throughout the bank, when paired with the glass façade and open floor plan, create a sense of welcome transparency between the bank and its patrons. Use of an operable partition as the demising wall between the conference room and main lobby maintain privacy in the bank’s conference space yet allow the flexibility to accommodate larger staff training, community engagement and after-hours social events.
All the design considerations for this project were focused to meet the ever-changing landscape of technology in banking while still maintaining connection to the past and providing a place that embraces traditional patronage.
