Materials Testing Mobile Lab Expands Thrasher’s Capabilities
With the addition of a fully-functioning materials testing mobile laboratory, The Thrasher Group, Inc. (Thrasher) will now be able to perform on-site testing of soils, aggregate, and concrete. These on-site capabilities result in immediate response time, cost savings on projects, and improved quality control.
After 11 months of planning and designing, the mobile lab was delivered to Thrasher on April 19, 2018. WVDOT Secretary Tom Smith, who was in the region to speak at the NCWV Association of Highway Engineers, toured the facility stating, “We are appreciative to Thrasher for the investment made in this lab to support the projects being created by the road bond. This is exactly what Governor Justice had in mind when he began his effort.”
The lab will be deployed sometime next month to perform testing for the construction of the Wellsburg Bridge between Brilliant, OH and Wellsburg, WV. As an AASHTO accredited lab, it is equipped with a concrete curing room and ventilated sieve analysis room.
“We are very excited about how this will improve our client experience,” said CEO Chad Riley. “The ability to be onsite for large projects improves communication and allows us to be more responsive, something we really pride ourselves in.”
Thrasher is a full service firm offering civil engineering, survey, environmental, architecture, and land planning services in addition to construction monitoring and materials testing to both public and private clientele.
