The Town of Luray, Virginia, was in need of a bridge replacement to support the growth in its downtown area. The Thrasher Group was hired to take on the Design-Build of the new West Main Street Bridge – providing a one-stop engineering consultant to assist with the project and overcome the Town’s unique set of challenges.

This was a multi-disciplinary effort for Thrasher, with involvement from the Transportation, Environmental, Utilities, and Survey Divisions from various locations across the company. Additional team members from Orders Construction, NGE, WRA, and AMT joined the project. Thrasher introduced innovative engineering solutions, with the Utilities Engineering team replacing and upgrading the Town’s sewer system by integrating aerial sewer lines across the bridge. The lines were designed to maintain proper gravity flow across the bridge, reduce the risk of overflow, and ensure long-term system efficiency.

Thrasher’s solutions-oriented design was specifically adapted for the anticipated future growth of the community.
