Civil Engineer Project Manager – Highway

The Thrasher Group, Inc. is seeking an experienced full-time Project Manager to join the Highway Division of our Charleston, WV office location.   Reporting to the Highway Division Manager, the successful candidate will assist with both public and private roadway design and infrastructure projects.

Essential duties & responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare complete roadway construction plans; perform, or review, mathematical calculations for design geometries, grade lines, alignments and drainage.
  • Prepare detailed project cost estimates for all roadway and ancillary items.
  • Work with construction inspection personnel, as required, to assure that contracted work accomplishes the intent of the roadway design.
  • Project management from inception to completion
  • Perform design calculations
  • Technical report writing
  • Quantity calculations


  • BS or MS from ABET accredited university in the field of Civil Engineering
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of applicable experience
  • Profession Engineer, or the ability to become licensed in the State of West Virginia
  • Proficient using MicroStation with Inroads design software.   Geopak and Civil 3D experience is highly desired.
  • Experience and knowledge on WVDOH roadway and right of way deliverables
  • Possess the ability to work independently or collaboratively
  • Strong communication, leadership and time management skills
